Madeinplant has received funding from the European Union and IVACE under the 2025 R&D Projects for SMEs Programme (PIDI-CV) for the development of the BIOPEPTID2 project: “Development of recombinant growth factors using transient expression systems in Nicotiana benthamiana for their evaluation in the cosmetics sector”, project reference IMIDTA/2025/02.
BIOPEPTID2 will enable Madeinplant to further advance one of its main R&D lines: the use of plants as biofactories for the production of high-value recombinant proteins, in this case targeting applications in the cosmetics sector.
Plant-produced growth factors
Growth factors are biologically active proteins that are attracting increasing interest as ingredients in advanced cosmetic formulations. Madeinplant is currently working on the production of these biomolecules using Nicotiana benthamiana as a plant-based production platform.
