Madeinplant, in collaboration with ANECOOP, the University of Alicante, and the Polytechnic University of Valencia, has been awarded funding from the Valencian Innovation Agency (IVACE+i Innovation) under the Strategic Cooperation Projects Program. This research project aims to enhance the genetic traits of strategic crops in the Valencian Community, making them more resistant to drought and other adverse environmental conditions.
The project, titled “Characterization, Optimization, and Validation of New Cas Proteins for the Genetic Improvement of Strategic Crops in the Valencian Community”, is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) of the Valencian Community 2021-2027. It focuses on the development and application of novel Cas proteins for gene editing in plants. These advancements will help crops adapt to climate change, a growing concern in the Valencian region. By leveraging genetic editing, the project aims to improve plant tolerance to water stress and other unfavorable environmental conditions, ensuring a more sustainable and efficient agricultural production.
With this initiative, Madeinplant and its partners reaffirm their commitment to innovation and sustainability, driving forward a more resilient and technologically advanced agricultural sector.
