Madeinplant strengthens its commitment to sustainable production through its participation in the FG2H – FROM GREEN TO HEALTHY project. This flagship initiative, aimed at enhancing the agri-food value chain through innovation, digitalization, and sustainability, is part of the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE AGRO). The project mobilizes a total investment of €46 million, with €26 million in funding from the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Tourism, supported by Next Generation EU funds.
A key boost for the agri-food industry
The FG2H project represents a major step forward for the Spanish agri-food industry. Within this framework, Madeinplant is leading the project titled “Sustainable production in plant biofactories of ingredients for the cultivated meat industry”, with the file number PAG-020100-2023-166.
The goal of this ambitious project, developed since 2023 at Madeinplant’s facilities with funding of €225,148.90, is to sustainably and competitively produce key ingredients for the food industry. This is achieved using plant biofactories with a high capacity for recombinant production. Specifically, the project focuses on the efficient production in Nicotiana benthamiana plants of growth factors that accelerate cultivated meat production, along with other ingredients that enhance the functional properties of these innovative products.
Once again, Madeinplant is betting on biotechnology as a driving force for change in the production of agri-food ingredients, demonstrating that plant biofactories represent a sustainable and efficient model, aligned with the principles of circular economy and environmental impact reduction.
Innovation and sustainability as fundamental pillars
The FG2H project falls under the comprehensive support scheme for the agri-food industrial chain, within the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan. This collective effort involves 22 companies across 9 autonomous communities, consolidating a network of innovation and development to build a more resilient and sustainable food industry.
This project marks a milestone in transforming the agri-food sector, positioning Madeinplant and its strategic partners at the forefront of biotechnology applied to food production. With FG2H, Madeinplant reaffirms its commitment to a more sustainable, innovative, and competitive future for the agri-food industry.
